The delegation of ALLATRA International Public Movement took part in the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP16), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 2 to 12, December 2024. The conference brought together delegates from over 200 countries, united by the global goal of joining efforts to address pressing climate and environmental challenges.
During the summit, ALLATRA representatives arranged a series of exclusive interviews with delegates from various countries, including the United States, India, South Korea, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Senegal, Costa Rica, Tanzania, and many others. Participants shared their plans to combat desertification and drought, which they intend to implement in their respective countries in the coming years. Important issues such as water scarcity, degradation of agricultural lands, and insufficient funding for environmental initiatives were also discussed. All delegates unanimously emphasized the need to strengthen international cooperation for overcoming these challenges.
Participation of ALLATRA International Public Movement in a significant global event such as COP16 in Saudi Arabia marked another step toward fostering a global dialogue between the scientific community and the public in addressing the rapidly escalating impacts of climate disasters.
